While it may look plain, it is actually made from fabric woven with slub yarn (yarn with varying thickness within a single thread) and then pattern-dyed using a technique called "discharge printing."
Discharge printing is a process where patterns are created by removing the dye from certain areas of a previously dyed fabric to make them white, or by re-dyeing those areas with a different color, resulting in natural-looking patterns.
