The beautiful "Donzu Series" features lustrous fabric
Fabric with a deep texture created by satin weaving is called donzu, and it is characterized by its rich luster and smoothness. Donzu was introduced to Japan from China during the Kamakura period, and some examples have been preserved as "Meibutsu-gire" (celebrated fabrics). It is a fabric sometimes used for obi sashes, scroll mountings, tea ceremony utensils, and shifuku (drawstring pouches for tea utensils). This series of craft products is made from fabric that utilizes the special characteristics of donzu.
