The beautiful "Donzu Series" with lustrous fabric
Fabric with a deep texture expressed through satin weaving is called "Donzu" and is characterized by its rich luster and smoothness. Donzu came to Japan from China during the Kamakura period, and some of it has been passed down as "Meibutsu-gire" (celebrated textiles). It is a fabric sometimes used for obi sashes, mountings, tea ceremony utensils, and shifuku (protective bags for tea utensils). This series of craft items is made from fabric that utilizes the characteristics of Donzu.
